In a move towards enhancing the awareness and level of cooperatives expertise and professionalism, the Cooperative Development Department, Brunei Industrial Development Authority (BINA), Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources organised a briefing on MYOB Computerised Accounting System last Saturday afternoon.
More than 40 people representing 35 cooperatives in Brunei Darussalam attended the briefing which was held at the BINA Auditorium. The guest of honour was Masri bin Hj Abd Halim, the head of Training Unit and Educational Department.
The briefing was facilitated by MYBE Management Services General Manager Ramadey Hazimin and Accounting and Financial Advisor Dk Nurul Salwani Pg Sabtu.
They said both MYOB Accounting and Premier are powerful accounting software for small to medium sized business. Both accounting software manage or track inventory, reconcile inventory at month-end or year-end, use departmental accounting, regularly generate reports, and prepare and analyse reports of a company.
"For briefing participants, our company is offering Special Briefing Promotion for the MYOB 2004 where the prices would be reduced by 10 per cent but you will be entitled to full packages," they said.
The development and progress of cooperatives are actually monitored by the Cooperatives Development of BINA, which has been focusing on developing new cooperation by encouraging the formation of viable cooperative societies with large membership, capital and effective management.
It also encourages the formation of affiliated Cooperative Societies at villages, districts and national levels. Cooperative societies have been recognised as participants of feasible and viable economic activities either individually or as joint ventures with private sectors and cooperation among cooperative societies.
Further direction and strategies of cooperatives would be formulated which would enable BINA to develop a cooperative development plan, analysing the existing Cooperative Act for any changes deemed necessary; improving existing administrative assistance; encouraging interaction and cooperation's with private sector and for cooperatives to venture into other potential business sectors such as manufacturing, marketing, insurance and wholesales.
More than 166 cooperatives with more than 15, 000 members have registered themselves with BINA.
